ADMINISTRATIVE ADVISORY – Chairs: Joel Castro and Imelda Alamia
This committee was established by the Superintendent of Schools to advise the administration on matters related to wage and working conditions. HASA and HAABSE representatives are also members of this committee. The AHSA Board of Directors annually appoints three representatives.
ARCHIVES – Chairs: Armando Alaniz and Imelda Alamia
This committee is responsible for collecting, maintaining and disseminating a historical record of AHSA events and activities.
BY-LAWS – Chair: Matilda Orozco
This committee is responsible for presenting proposed amendments of the by-laws to the membership.
COMMUNICATIONS – Chair: Susan Pansmith
This committee plays a vital role of informing AHSA members of events and activities through the AHSA website and the dissemination of quarterly published newsletters and timely announcements.
MEMBERSHIP – Chair: Matilda Orozco
This committee is responsible for planning and coordinating the recruitment of HISD administrators and prospective administrators as full members or associate members of the organization.
NOMINATIONS, AND ELECTIONS – Chair: Richard Barajas
This committee is responsible for conducting nominations and elections of new officers, vacant Board seats, and Board Chair, and for conducting the nomination and election process for the annual AHSA awards.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – Chair: Lupita Hinojosa
This committee plans and coordinates workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities that serve the needs and interest of AHSA members.
PROGRAMS – Chair: Gloria Salazar
This committee coordinates the major social events of the organization including the following annual events: Fall Reception, AHSA Holiday Scholarship Social, and the “Noche de las Estrellas” banquet.
SCHOLARSHIP – Chair: TBA
This committee is responsible for the identification and selection of annual scholarship winners including the Alan Vaughn Memorial Scholarship Award, coordinates fundraising activities, and assigns mentors to all scholarship winners.
